Antique French Gilt Jewelry Casket with Portrait Textile Panel Under Glass

An elegant antique French jewelry casket of oval form, finely cast in gilt bronze and fitted with a hinged lid enclosing a delicate textile panel pressed between two layers of glass. The lid centers a classical female portrait, surrounded by intricate metallic-thread lacework arranged in concentric bands, creating a soft, dimensional effect beneath the glass that is both luminous and tactile in character.
The gilt bronze mounts are richly chased with scrolling foliate ornament and retain a deep, mellow patina consistent with age. The sides are further embellished with pierced and applied decorative panels, while the overall form reflects the refined decorative sensibilities of late 19th-century French production during the Belle Époque period.
